Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Bahrain on Wednesday for a two-day official trip, marking another step toward strengthening Pakistan’s regional partnerships. **PM Shehbaz heads to Bahrain on 2-day visit** with a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and senior government officials, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the visit, the premier is scheduled to hold important meetings with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. These talks aim to reinforce the longstanding, cordial ties between Pakistan and Bahrain and to expand cooperation across key sectors.
The PMO highlighted that the trip underscores the friendly relations between the two nations and aims to foster a more strategic, result-oriented partnership. The visit is expected to open new avenues for bilateral collaboration, strengthen people-to-people connections, and deepen economic, political, and security cooperation.
The Foreign Office noted on Tuesday that PM Shehbaz’s meetings with Bahraini leadership will focus on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, energy, technology, education, and culture.
Recently, both countries agreed to boost bilateral cooperation during the inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group. They also decided to create a joint working group dedicated to strengthening coordination on counter-narcotics, counterterrorism, coastguard operations, border security, immigration, and police training. Additionally, both sides are preparing to sign memoranda of understanding on extradition, mutual legal assistance, and specialized battalion training.
In September, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Bahraini Interior Minister General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics operations, and immigration management.
