Exeter-based technology leader Rapid Fusion is set to revolutionize manufacturing in remote and high-risk environments with the launch of its deployable hybrid manufacturing system, Cerberus. The system will make its debut at Formnext 2025 in Germany from November 18–21.

Rapid Fusion, renowned for its successful Apollo and Medusa robots, has designed Cerberus to deliver high-performance, containerized manufacturing in just twenty-five minutes. The innovation is aimed at extreme locations — from arctic oil platforms and desert bases to disaster zones and remote construction sites.

Fast Deployment, Rugged Design

Martin Jewell, Chief Technical Officer at Rapid Fusion, explained:
“We wanted a system that could produce military-grade components anywhere in the world. Cerberus takes the technology of Medusa, adapts it into a containerized form, and allows set-up in just 25 minutes.”

The system has already received phenomenal feedback. Cerberus can manufacture components for rescue drones, oil and gas safety-critical parts, and vehicle replacements in extreme conditions.

Powerful Specifications

Cerberus features:

  • Container-native design with 1200mm³ build volume
  • Pellet throughput of up to 17kg per hour
  • 3kW continuous spindle power for both 3D printing and CNC machining
  • Operates up to 500°C for advanced composites
  • Dual independent heads for zero downtime
  • Bulk material compatibility for local polymers
  • Fully self-levelling system for uneven terrain

The system requires only a single 5-pin commando socket, with automated start-up and calibration for quick deployment.

Intelligent, Resilient, and Modular

Cerberus is designed for operational resilience in high-tempo environments. Rapid Fusion also offers modular enhancements, including energy independence, compressed air generation, and AI-powered operating system, Bob, for remote intelligence access.

Jake Hand, CEO of Rapid Fusion, added:
“Cerberus can produce critical parts for military, disaster response, medical supplies, and oil and gas operations. Formnext is the perfect stage for its debut, and we are excited to begin production and help save lives globally.”
